Don't know what you've got 'till it's gone...

At this point, it's no longer amusing. For several years we have had good people testifying before Congress, and making statements in the open press that some in the United States government have drafted secret laws, subject to secret interpretations, which are enforced in secret courts. Few believed them.

Now we have more open information -- and verification -- of the erosion of our Bill of Rights. And don't even try to blame one presidential administration or another: Our rights have been steadily eroded over the course of decades; both major political parties are responsible, as are we as citizens.

And what have most of us actually done? Post a few rah rah red team/blue team comments on some news blog? Buy a bumper sticker? Set off some fireworks? Choose red, white and blue color scheme for the barbecue plates? Chortle about how 'they' hate us for our 'freedoms'? Guess what? You're an idiot, best case scenario, or, worse, intellectually lazy.

Restoring the protections of our Bill of Rights requires your action, by making your voice heard to your representatives. Loudly, and often, until the voice of we, the actual, physical people of this country is represented once more.
